Edival`s social commitment

The European Union defines “Corporative Social Liability” as the integration of social and environmental awareness during the carrying out of a company’s daily activities and the interaction between the different groups of interest. This should always be carried out voluntarily and should go beyond the legal requirements that are currently in force.

Social liability is a way of acting that company’s take on voluntarily, over and above their legal obligations as they feel it will be of benefit to them in the long term. This is intrinsically linked to the concept of sustainable development: companies should include financial, social and environmental consequences in their operations.

Why does Edival want to be socially responsible?

Because of the essence of its business, a company is a group of people who live and interact together in a social system.

By assuming our social essence, Edival has to pass on the principle of our corporative liability to all aspects of the organisation. The behaviour or strategy of the company must express and integral commitment to the management model that recognises the main objective as being the satisfaction of the different groups of interest with which it interacts. Employees, shareholders, customers, suppliers, the local community and society in general, should always be present in the decision making process from the board of directors to the information and external control after passing through strategic direction and management.

In a sector such as that of real estate in which different bodies interact such as public administration, businesses and end consumers, Edival takes on the challenge of implanting a Corporative Social Liability model. This policy is aimed at driving development in accordance with the expectations of society today. In order to do this, during 2005 the company drew up its Corporative Social Liability plan in which it defined each of the actions designed to meet this ethical and social commitment. A commitment that is sustained by the principle values of Edival such as clarity, commitment, responsibility and customer service and that is not only assumed by the people within the company, but also by our suppliers or customers. During this year several different activities have been started focussed on developing our CSL plan.
